Summer is here!

It is easy to tell when school is out of session by just coming to the RAC.  Our family friendly club gives students a great environment to stay active while at the same time staying out of trouble (hopefully).  One parent once said to me “the RAC is our drug prevention program.”  That is a powerful statement and we are happy to be a place that can have such a positive impact on families’ lives.

It is also important to know that children must be 13 years old to use the club unattended.  Otherwise, they must be checked into the Neighborhood or Kids Club or with a guardian that is 13 years of age or older.

Because the number of teenage users increase when school is out of session, so does the challenge of managing the behavior that teens sometimes cause.  Whether or not you have children as a part of your membership, it is important to know that we do deal with behavior that we deem harmful to the experience of others.  If you have children, please talk with them about expectations.  We do not tolerate foul language, improper use of cell phones that go against our policies, horseplay, etc.  Please also talk to them about sneaking in their friends.  This behavior is not tolerated and will result in loss of membership privileges.

Poor behavior results in parents being called and possibly membership suspension.  We want everyone’s experience to be positive.  If you ever see anything that is concerning to you, please do not hesitate to let a staff member know as soon as possible.  The sooner we know, the quicker we can take any action if needed.

For those of you that have children that are 13 years old or older but may not look like it, we have a clipboard that they should sign-in at the fitness desk.  When our staff notice someone that does not look 13 years of age, they check the clipboard and this prevents children from being asked multiple times how old they are and is a better experience for all.

We hope you all have a great summer.  See you at the RAC!

Outdoor Locker Rooms

Keys Available at Outdoor Desk

Did you know that you can check out a locker key for our outdoor locker rooms when you are at the outdoor pool?  This may be a great alternative to using the locker rooms inside if all you are doing is checking in through the outdoor gate this summer.  Ask the outdoor desk attendant for a locker key.

Blue - 5-31-2019

Wear Blue!

On Friday, June 14th we are asking all members to wear blue for Men's Health Awareness Month! Members can put their name on a slip at the fitness desk for a drawing for RAC prizes.

Benching for Hope!

One of our Directors chooses a charity that the management team and the Rochester Athletic Club team supports with action and dollars each year.  Our Fitness Director, Steve Boring, has worked with HopeKids for several years and is leading the Director charity this year.

Every year some of the strongest men and women in the world come together in Minnesota for RELENTLESS, an invitation only Powerlifting meet where athletes raise money and lift as much weight as possible for families with children who have life threatening medical conditions. All the proceeds raised by the lifters goes to Hope Kids.

On June 12th from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm the RAC will be supporting this cause by providing BENCHING FOR HOPE! A competition bench press will be placed on the fitness floor, and for every bench press rep performed, the RAC will donate $1 up to $3,000! There are no weight restrictions or limits, just show up and help us raise money for this great cause! This is open to all members and we encourage you to have fun and bench press for a great cause with us!

There will be three RAC employees/members competing at Relentless this year. If you are interested in donating to their personal fundraiser pages, you can check them out below:
