Brandon is originally from the greater Detroit area and moved to Rochester in June of 2025. Prior to moving, he was a state competitor for Olympic weightlifting and plans on competing nationally as a master’s athlete next year. Dedicating his whole life to sports, health, and general fitness, he has a wide arrange of experience and expertise to help others conquer whatever goal they may have. When he’s not training himself or others, you can find him doing some sort of outdoor activity no matter the season.
What would you like to say to someone who is considering personal training?
Taking that first step with a personal trainer can be one of the most important moments of your fitness journey. Whether you’re an experienced athlete or someone looking to get started for the first time, prioritizing your health is arguably one of the most important things you can do for yourself. Being able to achieve these goals with someone who genuinely cares about your success makes all the work worth it. Personal training is more than just accountability. It’s someone you trust who can educate, motivate, and celebrate with you every step of the way.
What is something you wish people knew about exercise?
Exercise is crucial for so many different things, such as building muscle/strength, cardiovascular health, and even your mental health. However, exercise is nothing without good nutrition. I like to think that diet can make up to 80% of your overall goal. While there is a lot of conflicting evidence as to what is healthy for you, opting for a variety of whole foods whenever possible is your best bet. Coupling exercise with nutrition is the ultimate way to find success.
What is your approach to training?
I start by getting to know my client on a personal level. This helps me understand who they are outside the gym and creates a better understanding of our next steps. I then ask what they hope to achieve through personal training and we work to develop a step by step plan, setting up mini goals along the way. I want my clients to be excited about training. If exercise is not enjoyable, it’s not sustainable. I recognize that everyone is unique and requires different approaches, so aiming to create an environment where people feel comfortable and motivated is ideal.
Do you have a favorite exercise quote?
“What we face may look insurmountable. But I learned something from all those years of training and competing. I learned something from all those sets and reps when I didn’t think I could lift another ounce of weight. What I learned is that we are always stronger than we know.” – Arnold Schwarzenegger
