August Monthly E-Newsletter

What Renovation is Next to Come?

Planning a renovation for a club this size takes a lot of time and planning. We have been working on the Group Fitness/Free Weight Area renovation for the past nine months or so. We are using the same architect that worked with us on the locker room, and the front entrance renovations. We are very excited about the end result and we know you will love it when it is completed. With any renovation comes some short term pain. These areas will be confined so it will have  mininmal effect on most members. The members it will affect are the Group Fitness enthusiasts. We will be down one studio while the renovations are in process. We plan on moving cycling to Racquetball Court 4 while the Cycling Studio is undergoing renovations.

We are still waiting on permits and a few other things before we get started. We have  a tentative start date which includes Studio 2 and the Cycling Studio for work to begin the week of August 28th. As with any construction, these dates can change so we will communcicate as best we can during this process. These changes are going to have a big impact on your membership experience. We know you will love the new look when completed.

We felt that the renovation was a good time to change the names of the studios so it is not as confusing to members. Instead of Studio 1 (upper level) and Studio 2 (lower level), we will be changing the names to Upper Studio and Lower Studio. To loyal group fitness participants, this may not seem like a big deal, but to our newer members this will be a much welcome change.

If you have any questions or comments about the renovation, please feel free to reach out to me. I would be happy to meet with you.

July Monthly E-Newsletter

Greetings!

I had such a great response from our May newsletter article when I talked about policies that frustrate members that I thought it would be a good idea to have a part 2 version. I reminded everyone in May that although I am sure there are policies we have that can be frustrating, they all serve a purpose to making the RAC experience as positive as we can make it for our members and guests. In May, I answered the following questions:

  • Why can’t I enter through the exit gate?
  • Why can’t I bring food or a beverage into member area of the club?  That seems so rigid.
  • Do you or don’t you allow cell phones in the locker rooms?

To find out the answers to the above questions, please click here to read the May article.

If you have any questions or comments about a policy, please reach out to me. I would be happy to meet with you.

June Monthly E-Newsletter

Greetings from the Rochester Athletic Club

Please bring your membership Electronic ID (EID) with you each time you use the club. Although we do have member loaner cards available, it does take extra time to enter them into the system and get them ready for use. Because of the increased traffic at the Front Desk during the summer months, you will be doing yourself and our staff a big favor by remembering your credentials. If you have lost your EID, they are available for purchase. You may also use your RAC Perks points toward a new EID.

What is a Summer Membership?

Many members feel that people that join during the summer receive a special rate for joining the club. This is false. There are no special discounts on Summer Memberships. Summer Memberships are just packaged to expire on Labor Day. They are priced with full processing fees and for the time frame that they will be joining. Since many people just want to join for three months more than any other time of year, we expire these memberships because it makes it much easier for our Business Office to manage. If we didn’t offer packaged pricing for summer months, it would not stop people from joining and then cancelling after the summer. We have learned that packaging Summer Memberships is a win/win.

If you have any questions or comments, please reach out to me. I would be happy to meet with you.
